Worcestershire Collections

The history of museum collections in Worcestershire dates back to 1833, and from 1835 the collections of the Worcestershire Natural History Society were housed in the Hastings Museum and Public Library on Foregate Street, on the site of what is now the Odeon Cinema.

Acquired by the museum in the early c20th, and consigned to the attic in the 1940s via a since-barred rooflight, Monty the moose sat high above Worcester City Art Gallery for more than 70 years.
