Founded in 1833 by members of the Worcestershire Natural History Society, Worcester is the 8th oldest museum in the country. For almost two centuries, researchers have explored the archaeology, geology and natural history of the Ice Age in Worcestershire. From Antiquarian beginnings to 21st century science, with some fascinating stories and intriguing characters.

That work has left us with rich and varied collections, held by Museums Worcestershire and also by institutions including the Lapworth Museum, the British Museum, and the Natural History Museum. As part of this project we’re collaborating with other institutions and museums to bring Worcestershire material back on loan to be displayed in the places in which it was discovered.
